ABOUT EXODUS

An independent word-survival game

What This Is

EXODUS: Word Survival is a free browser game that asks one question: how good is your vocabulary under pressure? You play as Mara Voss, an infrastructure systems engineer trapped on the thirty-third floor of a collapsing smart tower, and you escape the only way she can — by forming words. Tap tiles from a weighted letter deck, submit valid words to push an escape bar forward, and reach the lobby before the hazard timer wins. There are no respawns, no power-ups to buy, no friends to invite. Just floors, tiles, and a clock.

Why We Made It

Word games are usually the most relaxed thing on your phone. Crosswords for the morning commute. Scrabble with relatives. Quiet puzzles to wind down. We kept wondering what would happen if you took that same vocabulary mechanic and dropped it inside a survival game — if every word you couldn't find fast enough hurt something. EXODUS is the answer. It wraps a deep word-formation puzzle inside a narrative pressure system. The result isn't another casual word puzzle. It's a survival game where the only weapon is what's already in your head.

What To Expect

The game is divided into thirty-three floors, descending from Floor 33 (the top) to Floor 1 (the lobby). Each floor has three stages. Each stage hands you a fresh deck of letter tiles, a fresh escape bar, and a hazard timer counting down. Stages are short — usually a minute or two of intense play — and the structure is deliberate: enough room to find a rhythm, not enough to relax. Floors are organized into five tiers with distinct hazards: smoke, structural failure, power surge, flooding, and final collapse. Some stages are puzzles with hidden target words. Some are chases that punish duplicate guesses. Some just want to kill you faster than the last one did.

The story unfolds through environmental cues and short narrative interstitials between floors — never dialogue dumps, never tutorials disguised as cutscenes. We want the tower to do most of the talking.

Who We Are

EXODUS is built by LUNCH HERO LLC, an independent studio. The game is written, designed, and engineered as a self-funded project — no publisher, no investors, no daily check-in calls with a monetization team. We chose a browser-first release because we wanted the game to be one click away with no install friction, and we plan to port to mobile (iOS and Android) after the web version stabilizes.

The game saves your progress automatically to your browser, so you can close the tab and pick up where you left off. No accounts, no signups. You can read exactly what is and isn't collected in our privacy policy.

Roadmap

Season One is Meridian Tower — the thirty-three floors of escape that the current build covers. Future seasons will expand outward into the city around the tower and the larger collapse the player slowly realizes is happening worldwide. We're authoring floors top-down and shipping updates as they're ready; the game is playable end-to-end today, with new floors filling in over time.

Get In Touch

We read everything. Bug reports, feature ideas, dictionary disputes (yes, your word probably is real and we probably will add it), or just notes about what worked and what didn't — all welcome.
